Why does my browser indicate that Guardio's extension can "read and change all your data on all websites"?

That language is provided by your browser for all browser extensions. We ensure that we do not request any more browser permissions than are completely necessary for Guardio to provide the advertised protection. We take your privacy very seriously, and you can read more about it in our Privacy Policy.

  • Read and change all your data on the websites you visit. This permission allows Guardio to see what websites you visit to determine if it is safe or not. It also allows us to block threats encountered on these websites by displaying the Guardio block page in place of a website containing malware, scams, or other threats.

  • Display notifications. This permission allows Guardio to alert you when you visit a suspicious website, attempt to install a malicious browser extension, or provide you with essential security alerts, such as when one of your accounts is involved in a data breach.

  • Manage your apps, extensions, and themes. This permission allows Guardio to remove any malicious extensions installed on your browser.
