Email Protection checks the Gmail account you've connected to Guardio, under Connections, for scam and unwanted emails. When it finds something, Guardio flags it and lets you know, so you can tell what's safe and what to leave alone.
What you'll see
When Guardio flags a scam email, look for:
- A message from Guardio Security, added into the same conversation as the scam email
- A headline saying a scam email was found
- A gray box showing the scam email's sender, subject, and a short line from it
- Two buttons: See details in Guardio and I trust this email
The original email stays exactly where it was. Guardio's note sits right below it, in the same conversation. Scroll up and the scam email is still there.
This warning appears for scam email. Unwanted email, like repeat marketing messages, is filed into the "Flagged by Guardio" folder quietly, with no warning message.
Did Guardio send anything to the scammer?
No. Guardio's note goes only into your own mailbox, and only you can see it.
Where can I find the flagged email?
The original email stays right where it was, in the same conversation, with Guardio's note right below it. It's also filed into a folder called "Flagged by Guardio" in your email app.
| App | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Gmail app (phone) | Tap the menu at the top left, scroll to Labels, find "Flagged by Guardio" |
| Gmail on a computer | Left sidebar, under Labels |
| Apple Mail | Mailboxes list, under the Gmail account |
| Outlook | Folder list, under the Gmail account |
The folder sits under "F", not under "G" with anything else from Guardio.
Is this warning really from Guardio?
Yes. If you'd rather not interact with anything inside the email, open the Guardio app directly to check your account, and avoid opening any links in the original email until you have.
What does "See details in Guardio" do?
It opens more information about the flagged email in the Guardio app.
What if Guardio got it wrong?
Select "I trust this email." Guardio records your feedback and shows you a quick confirmation.
What's next
Explore the "Flagged by Guardio" folder anytime to see what Guardio has caught for you.
