How does browsing protection work on my phone?

Browsing protection checks the websites you open on your phone. When a site looks like a scam, a fake shop or a phishing page, Guardio warns you or stops it from opening. You turn it on once in the Guardio app.

Turn it on: iPhone

  1. Open the Guardio app and go to Home.
  2. Tap Complete your setup.
  3. Tap the browsing protection step and follow the instructions.
  4. When Guardio asks, tap Go to Settings inside the Guardio app. It opens the right screen in your iPhone settings.
  5. Finish the step in Settings, using one of the two setups below.
  6. Go back to Guardio.

If your iPhone shows a DNS setting:

  1. Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > DNS.
  2. Choose Guardio Browsing Protection.

If Guardio asks you to download a profile:

  1. Tap Allow to download the profile.
  2. Open Settings and tap Profile Downloaded.
  3. Tap Install.
  4. Go to Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings and turn on Guardio.

Stopped halfway? Open Guardio and tap the browsing protection step again. It picks up where you left off. Stuck on Go to Settings? See How do I turn off Guardio's VPN or DNS setting?

Turn it on: Android

  1. Open the Guardio app and go to Home.
  2. Tap Complete your setup.
  3. Tap the browsing protection step. Guardio opens your phone's Accessibility settings.
  4. Find Guardio. It may be under Installed apps or Downloaded apps.
  5. Turn it on and tap Allow.
  6. Go back to Guardio.

Good to know: You can't finish this step while you're on a phone call. If Guardio isn't in the Accessibility list, restart your phone and try again.

How to know it's working

Back in Guardio, browsing protection shows as on. If it says Partial, a step is still missing, so tap it and finish. When Guardio stops a dangerous site, you'll see a warning instead of the site. On iPhone, depending on your setup, the site may simply not open.
